‘RAINBOW GALAXY’, BOLIDDE’s latest album has this aura of being like a jump into the future. He’s proven both his maturity as an artist and his confidence in creating a contrast of both primal energy and pop sensibility that’s at once catchy but never feeling dated or formulaic. BOLIDDE’s technical precision is at the forefront whether he’s ripping on a rock riff or leaning into more pop-leaning melodies. His musical influences have also come from playing with a number of rock musicians in the past, which injects a sense of bravado into this collection of songs, especially when he mixes and matches both older and contemporary sounds. So from the moment you hit play, this is an album where you’re greeted with songs that while radio-ready hit even harder when they’re presented as a collection as a body of work.

Rainbow Galaxy wastes no time in introducing the listener to “Merry Go Round”. The single from this record has a bright hook and steadily amping up rock energy that showcases his knack for both hooks and tight production. “Lea” takes on a more subdued tone in the way it hums with warmth and nostalgia. The title track “RAINBOW GALAXY” follows with it’s equally bright production that uses its wide spectrum of sound to create melodies that are soaring yet infectious. “Hell In Paradise” gets back to its darker side with its sinewy guitars and acerbic bite. The groove on “Mr Tchain” is sly and approachable, with its thumping groove that’s ready to bounce from track to track. ‘RAINBOW GALAXY’ is curated so that it’s easy to get swept away, but there’s an internal diversity between each track and they all segue well with one another.
“Try My Love” has an earnest vibe that pulls it toward a power pop ballad, but there’s an undeniable strength behind each melody. “Golden Age” again channels a more classic rock sensibility but still balances it with a modern sheen. “Questioning”, as its name suggests, feels lyrically and instrumentally deep-diving while “Odd Noises” is quirky in ways that invite listeners to have fun with the use of effects on the track. “Run Away” brings it all to a close with a perfect combination of urgency and emotion. ‘RAINBOW GALAXY’ is a record where each track both is immediately accessible, but once again has more staying power when heard as a collection of songs in the context of an album.
