I received an email from Bandcamp about S. Reidy’s new single last night. The description on Bandcamp called the song “a poem in love, stillness, and acceptance.” Seeing that the track was nearly four minutes long, which is quite rare for an S. Reidy single, I was eager to listen.
This might be my favorite song by S. Reidy. It’s definitely in my top 5. He has always been great at blending Hip Hop with a singer-songwriter style, and this track is no exception. However, what sets this one apart is the significantly more polished and detailed production. I believe Reidy produced the song himself, which is impressive. His performance is outstanding, with top-notch flow, vocals, and writing. The second verse is probably my favorite part of the song: It felt a lot like a lobotomyHit a wall and I got caught, and at the worst I lost the God in me Somehow I made it to the other side Was broken by the demons that I had inside, thank God I made it out alive Every part of the song is fantastic, making it one of my favorite tracks of the year. I even love the cover art. This might be part of an upcoming project that hasn’t been announced yet, or it could just be a standalone single. Either way, it’s fire, and I think it would be a great entry point for new listeners. Be sure to check it out! If you like it, I also recommend his albums.
